Charlotte, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) unveiled the 2022 All-CIAA Preseason Volleyball Team, as voted on by the CIAA Volleyball Coaches Association and the Sports Information Directors Associations, and the predicted order of finish as selected by the head volleyball coaches. Fayetteville State University was predicted to win a third-straight title on November 12 in Salem, Virginia.
 
Xiamana Spikes, a junior middle hitter/blocker from Raeford, North Carolina, was the only Bronco named to the Preseason All-CIAA Team. Spikes is a returning 2021 All-CIAA honoree after finishing the season with the conference's best hitting percentage (.393) and blocks per set (.97). She had a total of 158 kills from 298 total attacks and 88 total blocks with 20 solo blocks.
 
Head Coach Reeshemah Johnson enters her 13^th season at the helm with four CIAA titles from seven championship appearances. Fayetteville State won its first title in 1996 and its second back-to-back campaign in 2019/2021. Coach Johnson won the institution's first after the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
 
Saint Augustine's has the most CIAA titles with 18. The Broncos have the second-best record with a total of seven crowns.
 
FSU will open the season in Clarion, PA in the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament against Palm Beach Atlantic on August 26. Fayetteville State will host its home opener on Wednesday, August 31 against St. Andrews at 6 pm.
 
The Broncos return eight players from the 2021 championship squad.  Spikes, who has a list of accolades of her own including the 2019 All-CIAA Rookie Team and All-CIAA Second Team, leads a star-studded squad. Fellow junior Casandra Watson was the 2019 CIAA Rookie of the Year, First Team All-Conference member, and 2021 CIAA All-Tournament Team honoree. Jaida Bynum, a junior setter, was also named to the '21 All-Tournament Team.
