New Orleans, LA – The Black College Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) announced the head coaches for the second annual HBCU Legacy Bowl that will be played on Saturday, February 25 in New Orleans, LA. The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) will each be represented by its coaching staff. Both teams will have two co-head coaches.
Fayetteville State's 2022 CIAA Football Championship Head Coach Richard Hayes was selected to coach Team Gaither along with North Carolina Central's Head Coach Trei Oliver.

TEAM GAITHER. The team is named after legendary Florida A&M University football coach Jake Gaither.
Richard Hayes recently led the Broncos to its fourth conference title and his first as a head coach. FSU finished the season with a 9-3 overall record and a 7-1 conference standing. Hayes has a career coaching record of 41-22 (.651 winning percentage) since taking over the program in 2016.
Hayes has coached in the CIAA Football Championship game since 2017. Before Fayetteville State, Hayes was the defensive coordinator for the 2015 CIAA Champions, Winston-Salem State, and has coached in four NCAA Regional appearances, two Region I Championships, and finished as an NCAA Division II National Finalist (2012).
Players from the SIAC and the SWAC will make up TEAM ROBINSON. The team is named after legendary Grambling State University football coach Eddie Robinson. The coaches for Team Robinson are Chennis Berry (Benedict College) and Eric Dooley (Southern University).

"We are very lucky to have quality, well-rounded men to lead and coach our All-Stars," said Super Bowl XXII MVP and Black College Football Hall of Fame Co-Founder Doug Williams.
The 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl will be played at Tulane University's Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana.
