FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Fayetteville State volleyball team secured a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-19, 25-21) against the Virginia Union Panthers Monday at home at Felton J Capel Arena to advance to the second round of the CIAA Championship tournament. The victory extended the Broncos winning streak to nine matches and clinched a perfect 7-0 record at home this season.Â
"We have been working on starting strong and finishing strong," said head coach Reeshemah Johnson. "Tonight was a much better effort all around and I think we realized it's championship time and everybody's record is 0-0."
The Broncos were led by a double-double from Casandra Watson, who registered 11 kills and 13 digs on the day. Kyra Webb also added eight kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Jordan Johnson chipped in for with 14 digs to go with two blocks from Webb.
"We just want to go hard and 110% every time," Watson said. "When you have the intensity, that home court advantage and all that energy you take it in and spread it among your teammates. That's what you call Bronco pride."

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Broncos took control of the set-one lead at 4-3 and never looked back to win 25-15. Fayetteville State led by a set-high lead of12 points at 23-11 before closing out the set.
SET 2 | Fayetteville State took set two 25-19 to quickly take a 2-0 lead. The Broncos won six of the first seven points and never looked back in the set to earn the victory. Fayetteville State opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 22-12 before finishing off the set.
SET 3 | Fayetteville State then sealed the sweep with a victory in set number three. The Broncos grabbed control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-21. Fayetteville State led by eight points at 15-7 before closing out the stanza.
