Broncos secure 3-set sweep against Johnson C. Smith

FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Fayetteville State volleyball team cruised to a three-set win (25-14, 25-19, 25-22) against the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls Monday at home at Felton J Capel Arena.

The conference win improved Fayetteville State's record to 12-9 overall and 11-2 in CIAA play. The Broncos are poised to win the CIAA Southern Division with an unblemished 8-0 standing with two matches left. FSU travels to Saint Augustine's on Thursday and host Winston-Salem State on next Monday (October 31st) for Senior Night. The Rams are second in the division with a 6-2 record and 8-5 conference record.

Casandra Watson finished with 17 kills on the day to lead the Broncos attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .382. got 12 digs from Jordan Johnson to lead them defensively. Fayetteville State attackers were helped by a match-high 28 assists from Jaida Bynum.

SET 1 | The Broncos jumped out to an early lead, methodically winning the first set 25-14. Fayetteville State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Broncos took over the lead. Fayetteville State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
