Fayetteville, NC (January 23, 2022) – Fayetteville State (9-6 overall, 4-1 CIAA) cruised past Winston-Salem State (11-5 overall, 4-3 in the conference) 66-54 in an empty Felton J. Capel Arena. Although the Rams had an impressive start shooting 50 percent (5-10) from beyond the three-point line, they struggled to find a rhythm as the Broncos dominated the second half. WSSU led 30-27 at the half.
Jalen Seegars was the catalyst for the Broncos' offense as he finished with a game-high 20 points with 7 rebounds.
Cress Worthy added 13 points.
Pulling ahead by as much as 10 points (61-51) early in the second half, the Broncos kept a poised tempo as the lead increased to 15.
Javonte Cooke led the Rams' with 14 points and Cameron Campbell contributed 7 points.
The men's basketball team will face Virginia Union in a makeup conference match on Tuesday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m. in another empty arena.
