Raleigh, NC (December 15, 2021) – The Fayetteville State dynamic duo of
Cress Worthy and
Jalen Seegars combined to be too much for Shaw (4-4, 0-2 CIAA) as the Broncos improve to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the 61-44 victory in the Spaulding Gymnasium.
Worthy scored a game-high 18 while Seegars followed with 17. Both were 7-of-16 in field goals but Cress made 4-of-7 three-pointers to Jalen's three.
Zion Cousins chipped in a game-high 10 rebounds with 5 points and 4 blocked shots.
Fayetteville State jumped to an early 32-19 lead at the half and led by as many as 32 points (56-33) with 5:42 left in the game. The Broncos forced the Bears into 15 turnovers which led to 16 points.
Shaw struggled shooting the deep ball with 1-of-14 three-pointers. FSU made 9-of-29 attempts. Despite the three-point attempts, the fast-paced game ended in favor of Fayetteville State thanks to the sharing of the ball with 12 assists.
Koraan Clemonts led the game with 6 assists and Worthy trialed with 5.
Fayetteville State will travel to Virginia State on Saturday, December 18
th and then on to Elizabeth City State on Monday the 20
th.
