Fayetteville, NC - Fayetteville State (5-5 overall) outplayed local DIII Methodist (1-9) in the second half en route to a 71-46 victory in Capel Arena.
Both teams played competitively in the first half which led to Methodist holding a one-point lead, 29-28, at halftime. But the Broncos bounced back after intermission to go on a 17-2 run to set the score at 53-36. From that point on, the Broncos never looked back by scoring 22 points in the paint and 21 points off of turnovers.Â
FSU improved from shooting 32 percent (8-25) in the first half to 56.25% (18-32) in the second. The Monarchs dropped from 48% (12-25) to just 27.59% (8-29).
Jalen Seegars (21 points) and
Cress Worthy (18 points) led the offensive charge for the Broncos.
Zion Cousins contributed 8 points and 13 rebounds.
Methodist was led by Kevin MacLaughlin, Jr (14 points) and Chris George (10 points).
Fayetteville State will travel to Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, December 15th for their first conference game against Shaw.
