Aniylah Bryant dropped game-high 23 points in Fayetteville State's 69-65 season-opening loss to West Virginia State in the MEC/PSAC/CIAA Conference Challenge.
The Broncos held a slight advantage at halftime (34-31) and increased it to 11 (59-48) by the end of the third period, where Bryant scored ten points.
Fayetteville State would go cold in the fourth quarter shooting 2-of-12 from the floor allowing the Yellow Jackets to end the game on a 19-3 run.
Rasheka Simmons netted 17 points and
London Thompson grabbed 12 boards. FSU shot 33.8% (23-68) in field goals made 2-of-13 attempts from beyond the arc to West Virginia State's 26.3 % (21-80). WVSU shot 8-of-45 in three-pointers. The Broncos were outrebounded 61-53.
Three Yellow Jackets netted double digits. Hannah Shriver scored 20 while Charity Shears hit 16 and Alexis Hall had 13.
