Fayetteville, NC – What better way to celebrate five seniors playing their last regular-season volleyball match in the Felton J. Capel Arena? Go out with a victory! That is what Fayetteville State accomplished against non-conference opponent Chowan University as the Broncos improve to 20-6 on the season. The Broncos will now prepare for the CIAA Championship Tournament after defeating the Hawks 3-1, by sets of 24-26, 25-20, 25-14, and 25-16.
FSU will host the CIAA Quarterfinal round against probable opponent Virginia Union University on Tuesday, November 16
th at 6 pm in Capel Arena.
Senior right-side hitter
Da'Nesha Miller (Hilton Head Island, SC) notched her third triple-double tonight with 23 kills, 17 assists, and 15 digs. She also had five blocks and three service aces.
Red-shirt junior
Kalee Vanderhorst (Raleigh, NC) followed with 13 kills while junior
Casandra Watson (Grifton, NC) finished with 10. Sophomore
Jaida Bynum (Largo, MD) led the match with 26 assists.
Chowan (8-21 overall) captured the first set, 26-24, with the leading effort of Anixa Rosa-Martinez, who finished with a team-high 12 kills. Ciara Ortega had four aces and Chloe Putnam blocked five attacks.
Fayetteville State finished with 10 aces and a total of 56 kills. The Broncos also had 12 total blocks.
