Two-time defending champion Chowan took on Fayetteville State in game four of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament, defeating the Broncos 7-0 in five innings.
The Hawks got off to a hot start with four runs in the first inning, including a three-run homer by Miranda Glover. Pitcher Shannon Buchanan pitched a complete two-hitter game with seven strikeouts with just one walk. Haley Cooper and Jesse Gentry each recorded two hits with Gentry also driving in a run.

Grace Vincent and Nicole Brown recorded the only two hits for the Broncos, who fall to the loser's bracket to take on Elizabeth City State at 7:30 p.m. Chowan advances in the winner's bracket and will take on Winston-Salem State at 7:30 p.m.
