In the first late game, Fayetteville State defeated Elizabeth City State, 9-0, in 5 innings to survive the first day of the CIAA Double-Elimination Championship Tournament.

After scoring one run in the first inning Fayetteville State utilized a six-hit, five-run fourth inning to separate from the Vikings. The Broncos added three more runs in the fifth inning to close out the game.

FSU's Madison Mendoza went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI while teammate Nikki Brown added a pair of hits and drove in two runs as well.

Three Vikings recorded a hit (Komives, Wilson, & Ryan) but couldn't get much going offensively. ECSU has been eliminated from the tournament while Fayetteville State stays alive and will face Claflin tomorrow at noon in a elimination game.
