Charlotte, NC – Fayetteville State battled back in its final moments to defeat Johnson C. Smith 35-34 to remain undefeated in CIAA and divisional play (4-0; 2-0) and improve to 6-1 overall.
Johnson C. Smith (2-5, 1-3 CIAA, 0-2 Div.) scored back-to-back touchdowns in the start of the fourth quarter to take a 34-23 lead with 9:20 left in the game.
Stevie Green (Washington, NC) carried a 23-yard pass reception to the one-yard line and punched it through on the next play to cap an 11-play 67-yard drive in a little over three minutes to bring Fayetteville State within six with 6:02 left in the game.
Keyshawn James (Cayce, SC) tackled Emanuel Wilson for a loss of three yards to stop the Golden Bulls on a third-and-one to force a JCSU punt.

Richard Latimer (Charlotte, NC) completed four of five passes for a 57-yard drive that ended with a 43-yard pass to
Brandon Person-Boyd (Greensboro, NC) for the win with 2:02 left in the game.
On Johnson C. Smith's final drive, James sacked the Golden Bulls for a loss of seven and an incomplete pass had JCSU facing a 4
th and 17. A false start had JCSU looking at a 4
th and 22 yards for a first.
Fayetteville State regained possession after an incomplete pass and watched the clock run out in victory formation.
Richard Latimer completed 20 of 33 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown.
Stevie Green rushed 27 times for 183 yards and four touchdowns.
Tyeous Sharpe finished with seven receptions for 109 yards and a score.
Keyshawn James had seven tackles with two for a loss of ten yards. He had one sack for a loss of seven.
Gerald Simpson led all tacklers with eight stops.
Fayetteville State finished with 472 yards of total offense to the Golden Bulls 310 yards. FSU had 6.4 yards per rush and 10.4 yards per pass completion.
Antonio Wallace completed 9-of-17 passes for Johnson C. Smith for 54 yards. Emanuel Wilson rushed 21 times for 195 yards
