Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville State is on a four-game win streak after stampeding Salem (W Va.) 92-63 in Capel Arena during a free event on its Community Month promotional calendar.
 
"We started the game strong," said Head Women's Coach Serena King-Coleman. "We got off to a good offensive start and we were able to continue with it. We played good defense, a total team effort. We got good play form players who normally don't get a lot of minutes."
 
Shantel Bennett (Sanford, NC) led the way with 20 points from 7-of-8 shooting from the floor and 6-of-7 free throws. Amani Muhammad (Wilmington, NC) had quality minutes off the bench with 15 points scored. Nikki McCaskill (Gastonia, NC) followed with 12.
 
The Broncos (7-4 overall) pounced on the Tigers in the first quarter with a 21-7 performance and held a 43-17 lead at halftime.
 
Although Salem (2-12 overall) had a better outing in the second half with 46 points scored, the game was never in question. Fayetteville State led by as much as 31 (48-17) in the third quarter and 37 (77-40) in the fourth.
 
Nia Bishop led the Tigers with 21 points and Aaliyah Holmes finished with 11.
 
Fayetteville State will host Lincoln (Pa.) in another FREE admission basketball doubleheader on Thursday, January 10^th at 5:30 pm.
