Laurinburg, NC – The FSU Broncos volleyball team traveled a short distance south of Fayetteville for its season-opener against Saint Andrews University. The Broncos departed Laurinburg, North Carolina a little deflated with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-11) loss to the Knights. Senior
Bojo Jada (Jamestown, NC) led the team with eight kills and a match-high 21 total attacks.
Freshman
Diamond Holmes (Raeford, NC) contributed four kills and 13 attacks while fellow rookie
Meagan Greene (Orangeburg, SC) led with six digs and one service ace.
Nia Richardson (Freshman - Franklinton, NC) had a match-high 18 assists.

Fayetteville State had the match's best hitting percentage (0.263) in the first set with 11 kills and 19 total attacks but couldn't overcome its attack errors with a match total of 32. Thirteen were committed in the second and third sets.

St. Andrews secured the win with 23 kills, ten blocks and six service aces. Kaylah Sloop had nine kills while Shalia Powell provided 14 assists. Â

Fayetteville State will take on Coker, Lees-McRae, Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke next weekend in the UNCP Braves Volleyball Tournament.
