Denzell Hosch dropped 16 points in Fayetteville State's Saturday night 85-61 loss to Virginia State in the Broncos second CIAA contest of the season.
Hosch swished five three-balls and a free throw to lead the effort.
Raymon Pratt muscled his way to 15 points with
Xavier Williams on his tail with 14.
Virginia State (7-3 overall; 2-0 CIAA) jumped to an early 48-27 halftime lead hitting 68% of its shots with 6-of-11 three-pointers made. Fayetteville State had one made three-pointer and shot 42.9% in field goals. The Trojans also outrebounded FSU 20-10 for the half.
The Trojans continued making its shots in the second half with 50% accuracy and kept its lead over FSU with 53.3% of it's made 3-pointers. VSU finished with a total of 14 field goals from beyond the arc (3-pointers).
VSU's Brandon Holley came off the bench to lead all with 18 points from six made three-pointers. Jahmere Howze finished with 14 points three others scored 10 points.
The long-range ball put the game out of reach for Fayetteville State (1-7 overall, 0-2 CIAA) as the Broncos finished the game with a total of six made threes.
The Broncos will travel to Elizabeth City State (5-7 overall, 3-0 CIAA) for a 5:30 pm contest on Monday, December 17.
