Murfreesboro, NC – Fayetteville State had a long break in-between games before returning to the court tonight in a 76-61 conference loss to unbeaten Chowan. FSU defeated Morris in its last outing on November 27
th.
Xavier Williams led the Broncos with 14 points while
Jyles Webster pulled down 10 rebounds. Webster was one point shy of a double-double with nine points.
Raymon Pratt and
Nakia Rivers both scored 10 points.
Chowan held a ten-point advantage at halftime with 33-23 lead. Four Hawks scored in double-figures. Timothy Bing led the game with 22 points with Demetrius Sanders following closely with 19 points. Michael Kelly had a double-double of 16 and 11 rebounds and Gus Rowland hit 11.
The Hawks hit 51% of its field goals (26-of-51) and 82.6% of its free throws (19-of-23). Fayetteville State was 37.7% from the floor and was 3 of 17 in three-pointers. FSU made 16 trips to the free throw line and made 12 (75%).
Fayetteville State will travel to Petersburg, Va. on Saturday for an 8:00 pm contest against Virginia State University.
