FSU Broncos Drop 51-21 Senior Day Game to Winston-Salem State

Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville State (6-2 overall; 5-1 CIAA) dropped a 51-21 CIAA Southern Division game to rival Winston-Salem State (5-4; 4-2) during a CIAA ASPiRE Network broadcast.

The loss doesn't alter the Broncos advancement to the CIAA Football Championship game next Saturday in Salem, Va. FSU will face the Bulldogs of Bowie State (8-2 overall; 5-1 CIAA) in a televised 1:00 pm game.

Winston-Salem State jumped to an early start, capitalizing on turnovers, with a 13-0 lead in the first quarter. Fayetteville State punched 14 points on the board in the second quarter but so did WSSU. The Rams led 27-14 at halftime.

In the second half, Winston-Salem State recovered two fumbles which led to two more scores. Kerrion Moore rushed for a total of 76 yards and Dominique Graves complete 15-of-20 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns.

Stevie Green scored the Broncos first touchdown at the 14:15 mark. Green crossed the endzone from 19 yards out and capped a 6-play 71-yard drive. Brandon Person-Boyd pulled in a 9-yard pass from Collyn Anderson to top a 5-play 63-yard drive.

Donshel Jetton scored in the fourth quarter with a 19-yard run to end an 83-yard drive in 8 plays.

Four of the Rams touchdowns in the game came after Bronco turnovers.

WSSU intercepted a pass in the endzone on the Broncos first drive for a touchback. The Rams preceded 80 yards in 11 plays for the 6-0 lead. Winston-Salem State picked off the Broncos on its second attempt to score for a second touchback. Dominique Graves then connected with William Walton for an 80-yard strike for the 13-0 lead.

In the third quarter, FSU lost a fumble on its three-yard line which led to another Ram touchdown. On the pursuing drive, that same miscue struck the Broncos on its 13-yard line which led to yet another score.

FSU's Collyn Anderson threw for 205 yards with 12 completions from 18 passes. He threw one touchdown and two interceptions.
