"We came into the game really thinking we had an opportunity to win this CIAA championship," said Head Coach Richard Hayes. "We turned over the opening kickoff and then we had three additional turnovers in the first half."

"Why," asked Stevie Green? "We turned the ball over four times. You can't win with turnovers. So, we just have to learn from everything. This offseason, we will have time to work on everything."

Stevie Green is currently the second all-time leading rusher for Fayetteville State University with a career total of 3,355 yards.  Clifton Davis currently hold the record for the Broncos with a career total (1991-94) of 3,709 rushing yards with 29 touchdowns.

As the CIAA Rookie of the Year in 2016, Green rushed for 1,150. After last season's championship appearance, Green had 1,257 yards. Green will close out the 2018 season with 948 yards and 27 touchdowns. He will only need 355 yards next season to eclipse the record.

In addition to today's 135 yards on the ground, Stevie Green had three receptions for 26 yards for a game-high 161 all purpose yards.

"This guy [Stevie Green] has another year," said Head Coach Hayes. "Next year is going to be his time."

Coach Hayes was speaking of having to play against Trent Cannon last season and Amir Hall this year.

Fayetteville State had a total of four turnovers with three lost fumbles and one interception. The Broncos finished with 296 yards of total offense after rushing for 208 yards and 88 yards passing.

Bowie State threw for 180 yards and ran for 196. The Bulldogs were 0-for-3 in fourth down conversion and threw one interception.

Amir Hall scored the first points of the game for Bowie State with a 14-yard quarterback keeper with a little over three minutes left in the quarter for a 7-0 lead. Hall tacked on seven more points with a six-yard scamper with a minute left.

David Lamb kicked a 28-yard field goal with 8:13 left in the second quarter to bring the score 14-3.
