June 23, 2015 Kansas City, MO - Fayetteville State University former offensive lineman Marcus Reed (Houston, TX) has been claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, June 15th. Reed was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in May.
Reed started all 10 games in 2014 at the guard spot. Fayetteville State's offense finished the season ranked sixth in the CIAA for passing yards and seventh in rushing yards, with Reed paving the way. He provided protection for a running back to total more than 700 yards rushing and two quarterbacks to throw for more than 500 yards.
Reed earned All-CIAA Second Team honors as a senior and impressed NFL scouts during the pro day held at North Carolina State University in March.
The Chiefs signed Reed just before the start of minicamp on June 16th to fill their only open roster spot. Reed is listed at 6'5 and 350 pounds entering Chiefs' minicamp.
The Chiefs are at the max of 90 players on the offseason roster. Reed will be working to make the 53-man roster going into the start of the regular season.
