FAYETTEVILLE STATE GOLF FINISHES FOURTH IN THE 2015 CIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Charlotte, NC -- The Fayetteville State University men's golf team shot 327 on the second and final day of the 2015 CIAA Championships to place tied for fourth at the par 72, 6,717-yard Larkhaven Golf and Country Club on April 17th. FSU shaved 12 strokes off their day one total for a two-day score of 666 (+90).

Livingstone College won the conference title by firing a 625 (+49) to finish 10 strokes better than ChowanUniversity. The Hawks (635, +59) and Elizabeth City State University (650, +74) placed second and third, respectively.

The Broncos and Johnson C. Smith University tied for fourth place (666, +90), Virginia Union University (766, +190) finished sixth, while Virginia State University (846, +270) and Saint Augustine's University (1024, +448) rounded out the team scoring in seventh and eighth place, respectively.

William White of Elizabeth City State won the individual medalist honor after a sudden death tiebreaker with a score of 150 +6 (82, 68).

Senior Brandon Jobe (Fayetteville, NC) earned the 2015 CIAA Golfer of the Year Award with a three event total of 447 and an average of 74.5 per round. Jobe and White initially ended competition tied for the medalist honors. White victoriously earned the individual medalist honor in a sudden death playoff. White finished hole one in five strokes, compared to six strokes for Jobe.

Freshman Jared Chinn (Ft. Bragg, NC) completed the event tied for fourth overall. Chinn shot 75 on day two, six strokes better than his first day score for a total of 156 (+12).

Junior Christopher Jackson (Raeford, NC) and freshman Cameron Hughes (Charlotte, NC) finished 22nd and 24th, respectively on the overall leaderboard. Jackson improved seven strokes on the final day for a total of 177 (+33). Hughes concluded the event with a total score of 183 (90, 93).

Sophomore Corbin Rascoe (Windsor, NC) shot four strokes better on the final day of his first championship to card a total of 320 (+176).

Jobe and Chinn received CIAA All-Tournament Team honors for finishing in the top five of the championships. Jobe, Chinn, and Jackson earned All-CIAA Team selections.

Fayetteville State will participate in the 2015 PGA National Minority Golf Championships held in Port St. Lucie, FL on May 7-10.
