Hartsville, SC - The Fayetteville State Men's Golf team fell five strokes short of a first place finish in the 2008 Coker College Golf Intercollegiate Tournament (par-yardage:72-6615) held October 13th -14th at the Hartsville Country Club.
The Coker College Cobras won the tournament with a team score of 581, earning their first tournament victory of the fall season. Wingate University's "B" team finished in third place (593).
Individually, senior Derek Scott finished in a three-way tie for fourth place after shooting a 143 (76-day one, 67-day two). Junior Kevin Lyles shot one over par (145) and finished tied for seventh. Junior Joel Lynn held off Spartanburg's Cally Bell off by one shot (148) for a 13th place finish.
Junior Jeremy Ringled rounded out FSU's top finishers with a two-day total of 150, tied for 15th.
The Broncos return to the links for the Bethune Cookman Golf Invitational on Oct. 22nd -26th in Daytona Beach, FL.
