LADY BRONCOS SWEPT AT PFEIFFER

Misenheimer, NC - The Fayetteville State University volleyball team traveled to Pfeiffer University Friday afternoon for the Pfeiffer University Volleyball Invitational. The Lady Broncos first match of the invitational was against the Lady Falcons of Pfeiffer, who swept FSU in three games (30-19, 30-14, 30-23) inside the Merner Gymnasium. The loss dropped FSU to 1-4 for the season.

Coach Elorine Hill received solid performance from Chekimbrell Jefferson (five kills, five digs), Samantha Meeks (three kills, seven digs) and Achari Mainor (11 assist and seven digs.

The Lady Broncos were victorious against their second opponent at the Pfeiffer University Volleyball Invitational; Fayetteville State swept Southern Connecticut State University 3-0 (30-26, 30-16, 30-22). The Lady Broncos improve to 2-4 for the season and ended a four match losing streak.

Freshman Chekimbrell Jefferson (Laurel Hill, NC), 6-2, middle blocker led the way with 15 kills and six total blocks. Her teammate freshman outside hitter Samantha Meeks (Laurinburg, NC) had six kills and six digs and freshman setter Achari Mainor (Antioch, CA) had 34 assists for the Lady Broncos.

The Lady Broncos had a large advantage in the service-ace category, racking up nine for the match compared to one for the Lady Owls. Jefferson and Meeks led the way with three each. The Lady Broncos return to action Saturday afternoon against Coker College.
