FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – With just two matches remaining in the regular season, the Fayetteville State University women's volleyball program continues to strengthen its postseason résumé as the Broncos are ranked sixth in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Power Index (NPI) rankings released through matches played on Nov. 1, 2026.
The Broncos hold an NPI value of 56.382, moving up from No. 63 nationally to No. 59 overall in Division II while remaining firmly in the Atlantic Region postseason conversation. Fayetteville State trails only five Atlantic Region programs in the rankings, including Gannon, Indiana (Pa.), Shepherd, Fairmont State, and Lock Haven.
The NCAA Power Index is utilized throughout Division II to evaluate teams based on their results and strength of schedule, serving as a key tool in regional and national championship selections. The rankings are recalculated throughout the season as teams continue to compete and opponents' strength of schedule metrics evolve.
At 20-4 overall, Fayetteville State has positioned itself among the region's elite while producing one of the best winning percentages in the Atlantic Region. The Broncos' adjusted NPI record of 16.1-3.8 reflects the consistency that has defined the 2026 campaign and places the program among the top NCAA Division II teams in the Atlantic Region heading into the final week of the regular season.
The Broncos' rise comes as they ride a nine-match winning streak and sit in a tie for first place in the CIAA standings with Livingstone College. Both programs own identical 17-3 conference records, setting the stage for a highly competitive finish before postseason play begins.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Chynna Hunt, Fayetteville State has continued its emergence as one of the CIAA's premier volleyball programs. The Broncos have combined championship-caliber defense with an efficient offensive attack to earn 20 victories and position themselves for a strong postseason run.
While regional rankings remain important, the Broncos' immediate focus remains on closing out the regular season and improving their seeding for the upcoming conference tournament.
The 47th CIAA Volleyball Championship Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 9-11, 2026, at the Rocky Mount Event Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where the league's top eight teams will compete for the conference championship and an opportunity to dethrone the defending CIAA champion, Livingstone.
With two regular-season matches left to play, Fayetteville State controls its own destiny as it looks to carry momentum into Rocky Mount, strengthen its regional standing, and continue building a postseason résumé worthy of NCAA Tournament consideration.
