Pooler, GA - Belmont Abbey College shot a 26-over-par 314 score and has taken a big lead over their nearest competitors Barton College and Anderson (SC) University. Fayetteville State University, the CIAA Champions, is tied with last year's region champions, Coker College, for fourth at 334.

In all, only 20 of the 90 players in the field broke 80, battling heavy winds on the par 72, 7066 yards Savannah Quarters Championship Course. Play continues on Tuesday with singles rounds beginning at 8:00 a.m.
