BRONCOS FALL SHORT IN BID FOR NCAA TITLE

May 10, 2007

Pooler, GA - After three-days of battling Mother Nature and what is described by most golfers as the "game of inches", the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Golf Tournament came to an end with Belmont Abbey College advancing to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship at Allendale, MI on May 22-25.

Belmont Abbey shot a final round 324 and bested the field by 16 strokes, finishing the three-day with a 955 total. The Broncos, for the second day, improved on their score but could not overcome the first day lead of the Crusaders. After opening the tournament with a 334 they came back in the second round with a 317. In their attempt to capture the title, the Broncos' golfers fired a 319 and finished the tournament one stroke behind second place Pfeiffer University 969. The Broncos' 970 tied them with Barton College for third place.

Iain Hall of Queens (NC) College captured the individual Atlantic Region title with a three over-par 75 winning by three strokes and a three-day 228 over Fayetteville State University's Ian Milne and Kasey Timms of Belmont Abbey. Milne and Timms both carded 80 to finish with 18-over-par 234 total.

The Broncos will depart Savannah, GA and travel to Port St. Lucie, FL where they will defend their National Minority title May 11th-13th.
