Fort Lee, VA - Fayetteville State University's golf team had a banner two-days at the CIAA Spring Sports Golf Championship, capturing its seventh-consecutive title. The tournament was held at Fort Lee Cardinal par 72, 6411 yards golf course. FSU's golfers concluded the two-day event with a record total 594 over the course, 47 strokes better than their closet competitor.
The title was Coach Raymond McDougal's 12th Championship in 14 years. The Broncos golfer had a superb two-day performance, shooting less than 300 both days of the tournament as six golfers finished in the tournament top 10. Five of the Broncos shot rounds under 80.
Fayetteville State's top golfer was Kevin Lyles. He finished the course with rounds of 75-72=147. In addition to their top 10 finishes, four Broncos were named to the All-Conference team. The All-Conference team consists of Jerel Whiting and Kalani Brits, Virginia State University, Kevin Lyles, Ian Milne, Derek Scott and Joel Lynn, Fayetteville State University.
The Broncos made a clean sweep of the CIAA 2007 Championship Tournaments by winning the conference's Eastern and Western Division Tournaments.
