Fayetteville State University's golf team finished second overall in a field of seven schools at the Hurricane Fusitlade Challenge Intercollegiate Stroke/Match Play Tournament at Bayonet Golf Club. In the stroke play of the tournament, Bronco golfers finished third with a stroke score 312-308=620 for the two-day event.

The Broncos would fair better in the match play, gaining second place with a team score 13.5 points, two points behind the tournament winner Cape Fear Community College. A bright spot for Fayetteville State University was Chip Lynn, the tournament meadlist with a 70-71=141 score over the par 72, 7021 yard course.
