Fayetteville State University captured the 2006 PGA Division II National Minority Golf Championship at the PGA Golf Course in Port St. Lucie, FL. The Broncos earned the title, beating the defending National Champions, Lincoln University of Jefferson City, MO by eight-strokes. FSU had a three-day total of 78-over-par 842. Bring home the medalist honor was Ian Milne. Milne had to come-from-behind to card a final round 3-over-par 75 to win the honor over teammate Derek Scott and Lincoln's Rodolfo Gamino.

The championship is the third for Coach Raymond McDougal and the Broncos. They won the title in 1995 and 1996. Last year they finished two-strokes behind Lincoln to take 2nd Place. Going into the final round, the Broncos had built an eight-stroke lead over Lincoln and finished the three-day (310-320-312=942) with the same stroke margin.

In winning the national medalist honor, Ian Milne became the second consecutive Bronco to win the National Minority Medalist honor. Last year John Azzarelli won the event with Milne finishing third. The junior from Fayetteville, North Carolina had a three-day total 73-81-75=229. "I played great today and knew coming down the stretch I had a very good chance so I felt good coming in." said Milne, who won the CIAA Spring Championship medalist honor in April. "I am ecstatic because both the team and I came back this year and did what we planned to do - win first place after finishing in second last year."
