Freshman pin hitter Tamari Hill joins the Fayetteville State volleyball program after a successful career at Charles E. Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina. Known for her energy, determination, and leadership, Hill brings a competitive mindset and a team-first approach to the Broncos.
During her high school career, Hill earned All-Conference and All-Region honors while helping lead her team to an A-8 West Conference Runner-Up finish. She also excelled in the classroom, maintaining A-B Honor Roll status throughout her academic career. Her strong work ethic and commitment to success both on and off the court have been defining characteristics throughout her athletic journey.
One of Hill's most memorable volleyball experiences came during her senior season when her team defeated a talented opponent in the third round of the state playoffs to advance to the championship match. She recalls it as one of the best performances of her career and a moment that made her feel accomplished and confident in her abilities.
A natural leader, Hill takes pride in the example she set for younger players during her final high school season. She considers becoming a leader and role model for her teammates one of the most rewarding aspects of her athletic career.
Hill chose Fayetteville State because of its strong academic opportunities and welcoming atmosphere.
"I chose FSU to get my degree and graduate."
Since arriving on campus, she has embraced the family-oriented environment that makes Fayetteville State unique.
"It's a very family-oriented school, and I am glad to have a family and people behind me to support my goals in life. The support from other student-athletes, parents, friends, and fans means a lot."
Away from volleyball, Hill enjoys Sudoku, crafting, decorative projects, friendship bracelet making, and sewing. She has aspirations of combining her business education with her passion for fashion after graduation. Her long-term goal is to earn her degree and build a successful career in the fashion industry as a fashion buyer.
Hill credits her older sister as her biggest athletic influence, helping guide and inspire her throughout her development as an athlete and person.
Like many athletes, Hill has her own game-day superstition. When her team is playing well, she refuses to look at the scoreboard, believing that every time she checks the score, momentum shifts in the wrong direction.
As she begins her collegiate career, Hill is focused on continuing to grow as a player, student, and leader while helping the Broncos compete for championships.
