Junior right side/middle hitter Kayla Liberti joins the Fayetteville State volleyball program after competing at South Florida State College. A native of Miami, Florida, Liberti brings versatility, experience, and determination to the Broncos' front line. She was a two-time team kill leader while playing the middle position at the collegiate level and is known for her resilience, leadership, and competitive mindset.
Off the court, Liberti is pursuing a degree in Business Administration and has plans to continue her education by earning a master's degree. She also hopes to fulfill her dream of representing the Puerto Rican National Team in volleyball.
Liberti chose Fayetteville State because of the culture of discipline, accountability, and perseverance that she felt aligned with her own values. She appreciates the family atmosphere within the Broncos athletic department and the support student-athletes provide one another across campus.
Before every match, Liberti centers herself through prayer and reading the Quran. She also makes it a point to call her mother, Nancy Negron, who has been the greatest influence in her athletic journey. Liberti credits her mother for making countless sacrifices and providing unwavering support throughout her life and volleyball career.
One of her favorite athletic memories was having the opportunity to play college volleyball alongside her younger sister. Among the greatest lessons she has learned as an athlete is believing in herself despite adversity. Overcoming doubt, loneliness, and challenges throughout her career helped shape her confidence and reinforced her belief that perseverance leads to opportunity.
Outside of volleyball, Liberti enjoys reading, writing, drawing, and painting. She has also remained active in community service through coaching youth sports, supporting food banks, assisting with fundraising events, donating clothing to shelters, and volunteering with Miami-based homeless outreach organization The Homeless Voice.
A former dance team captain, Liberti embraced leadership responsibilities by mentoring teammates and helping create choreography for her club dance team. Her advice to younger athletes is simple: trust yourself, believe in your worth, and understand that every challenge is an opportunity for growth.
