Delaney Sheridan joins the Fayetteville State volleyball program as a redshirt sophomore libero with Division I experience at Tennessee State and Grambling State. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Sheridan is known for her relentless work ethic, defensive mentality, and leadership qualities both on and off the court.
Sheridan graduated from Hoover High School in 2024 before beginning her collegiate career at Tennessee State University. During the 2024 season, she appeared in 19 matches and recorded 65 digs, seven service aces, two assists, one service reception error, and one block assist. Her season-best performances included 12 digs against Tennessee Southern, 11 digs against Bethune-Cookman, and 10 digs against Tennessee Tech. She also registered a career-high four service aces against Tennessee Southern.
Following her time at Tennessee State, Sheridan transferred to Grambling State, where she appeared in five matches during the 2025 season. She finished the year with 13 digs and one service ace while continuing to develop as a defensive specialist. Her top performances included five digs against both North Alabama and Abilene Christian.
Entering the 2026 season, Sheridan brings valuable collegiate experience to the Broncos' back row. Across her collegiate career at Tennessee State and Grambling State, she has accumulated 78 digs, eight service aces, two assists, and a block assist while competing at the NCAA Division I level.
A Psychology major with aspirations of becoming a pediatric psychologist, Sheridan chose Fayetteville State because of the discipline, culture, and family atmosphere she experienced during her official visit.
Known for her strong faith, Sheridan begins every match by praying over herself, her teammates, coaches, opponents, and the game. She credits Coach Kiyanna as her biggest athletic influence and approaches competition with a point-by-point mentality, focusing on making each play better than the last.
Away from volleyball, Sheridan enjoys skating, cooking, baking, arts and crafts, swimming, and spending time with her dog. She is heavily involved in community service, volunteering at food banks, nursing homes, church children's ministries, and mentoring younger athletes. Her leadership experiences include serving as co-president of Family and Consumer Science, vice president of Greater Alabama Youth Leadership, youth team lead at Mountaintop Community Church, and head coach of an Alabama Performance Volleyball 15U team.
Although she has already overcome significant challenges during her collegiate journey, Sheridan believes her greatest athletic accomplishment is still ahead. She hopes to help lead Fayetteville State to a CIAA championship and NCAA Tournament appearance while representing Black female student-athletes at the highest level.
