Chynna Hunt was named head coach of the Fayetteville State University volleyball program in January 2024, becoming the eighth head coach in the program’s 44-year history. A proud alumna of FSU, Hunt returned to her alma mater with a deep sense of purpose and connection, having been a standout two-sport student-athlete from 2016 to 2019.
In her first season as head coach, Hunt led the Broncos to a CIAA Championship match appearance, guiding the team through a strong postseason run that included a semifinal sweep over Virginia State and a dominant quarterfinal win against Elizabeth City State. Under her leadership, the team earned seven postseason awards, and players such as Vittoni and Culp received CIAA Week 11 honors, highlighting the program’s resurgence and competitive spirit.
As a player, Hunt was a decorated outside hitter/utility player, earning All-CIAA and All-Tournament honors in 2018, and contributing to the Broncos’ 2019 CIAA Championship title. She also played on the 2016 CIAA Runner-up team and was a member of the 2018 tennis squad.
Before returning to FSU, Hunt built a strong coaching résumé at the club and high school levels. She coached successful travel teams in South Carolina, leading them to multiple tournament championships and national qualifier contention. At Myrtle Beach High School, she served as head varsity coach, guiding her teams to conference runner-up finishes and playoff appearances in both 2022 and 2023, while also earning the Highest GPA Award.
A native of Summerville, SC, Hunt earned All-Region and All-State honors in volleyball and basketball at Ashley Ridge High School. She is currently completing her master’s degree in mass communications at Coastal Carolina University and is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
