Sophomore guard Zaria "Zee" Gool brings energy, determination, and a team-first mentality to the Fayetteville State women's basketball program. A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Gool joined the Broncos after a successful athletic career at Winston-Salem Christian School, where she competed in basketball while also participating in track and field and volleyball.
Gool is pursuing a degree in Psychology and has ambitious plans for her future. After earning her undergraduate degree, she hopes to continue her education by obtaining a master's degree and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology.
She chose Fayetteville State because of the family atmosphere she experienced from the moment she arrived on campus. For Gool, FSU offered more than just an opportunity to play college basketball; it provided an environment where she could grow as a student, athlete, and individual. She credits the university's strong support system for helping her navigate the challenges of collegiate athletics and develop greater confidence and responsibility.
Known for her defensive mentality, Gool finds motivation in shutting down opponents and prides herself on her preparation. She mentally prepares for competition by studying scouting reports, allowing her to anticipate what to expect on game day. Her unique pregame ritual includes finishing a roll of athletic tape while wrapping her ankles and making sure to say, "Yessss" before taking the court.
Off the hardwood, Gool enjoys reading, building with Legos, taking walks, and watching movies. A self-proclaimed movie enthusiast, she values opportunities to relax and recharge away from basketball. She credits her mother, Celina Gool, as her biggest athletic influence and source of inspiration.
Beyond athletics, Gool is actively involved on campus as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), demonstrating her commitment to leadership and representing the voice of student-athletes.
