Fayetteville State University Athletics

Tione Freeman brings grit, quickness, and defensive excellence to the Fayetteville State University women’s volleyball team as a sophomore libero. A standout at Bryant High School in Arkansas, Freeman earned numerous accolades including AVCA All-American, All-State, All-Conference, and All-State Tournament Team honors. In 2023, she led the 6A Central Division in digs and was ranked #8 in the state.

In her freshman season at FSU, Freeman played in 16 matches and 50 sets, recording 111 digs with a season-high 21 digs against Livingstone on October 21, 2024. Her performance on the court is matched by her academic excellence—she earned the 2025 Bronco Sports Award for Highest Individual GPA with a perfect 4.0.

Freeman is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with plans to continue on to earn her MSN and become a certified nurse midwife specializing in labor and delivery. Off the court, she’s a skilled nail technician with five years of experience and enjoys babysitting and giving back to her community.

She credits her mother, Tamika Freeman-Taylor, as her greatest influence for her resilience and unwavering support. Freeman’s favorite volleyball memory is making it to the championship and playing her entire freshman season—despite unknowingly competing with a broken thumb. She chose Fayetteville State for its welcoming campus and the electric energy of Bronco volleyball.
