Fayetteville State University Athletics

Sophomore guard Samiyah "Miyah" Barker brings scoring ability and competitive energy to the Fayetteville State women's basketball program. A native of Durham, North Carolina, Barker developed a reputation as a standout player at Hillside High School, where she earned MVP honors, was named Player of the Year, and finished as her team's leading scorer.

Barker chose Fayetteville State because of the opportunity to continue her academic and athletic career on scholarship. She values the close-knit atmosphere within the Bronco family and credits the university's strong sense of community as one of the most special aspects of her student-athlete experience.

In the classroom, Barker is pursuing a degree in Sports Management with aspirations of becoming a coach after graduation. Her passion for athletics was heavily influenced by her father, who has been one of the most impactful figures in her journey as an athlete.

Outside of basketball, Barker enjoys expressing her creativity through art. As she continues her collegiate career, she looks to build on a successful high school résumé while contributing to the continued success of the Broncos program.
