Junior forward Rebecca Kaba brings size, resilience, and determination to the Fayetteville State University women's basketball program. A Fayetteville native, Kaba returned home after beginning her collegiate career at Davis & Elkins College, joining the Broncos to continue her academic and athletic journey in an environment that felt like family.
Kaba attended Terry Sanford High School, where she earned Honorable Mention recognition and showcased her athletic versatility as a multi-sport competitor in basketball, volleyball, and track & field. Her diverse athletic background has helped shape her into a versatile frontcourt player capable of making an impact in a variety of roles.
A Pre-Nursing major, Kaba aspires to become a labor and delivery nurse after graduation, combining her passion for helping others with her commitment to personal and professional growth. She chose Fayetteville State because it felt like home and provided an opportunity to develop both on and off the court.
Throughout her athletic career, Kaba has demonstrated remarkable perseverance. One of the biggest challenges she has faced was overcoming a second major injury as a collegiate athlete, an experience that strengthened her faith, resilience, and determination. Her advice to younger athletes reflects that mindset: remain humble, strive to be your best every day, and always keep God first.
Before games, Kaba prefers to keep a calm and focused mindset by eating light, listening to relaxing music, and limiting distractions. She credits her third- and fourth-oldest brothers, along with her high school coaches, as some of the biggest influences on her athletic development.
Among her favorite basketball memories is attending the CIAA Tournament for the first time, an experience that deepened her appreciation for the tradition and excitement of HBCU basketball. She also values Fayetteville State's commitment to excellence and its determination to remain one of the premier institutions in the CIAA.
Away from basketball, Kaba enjoys shopping, spending time with friends, and getting plenty of rest. She is also involved in campus leadership as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
