Redshirt junior Monica Surratt brings determination, versatility, and a championship mindset to the Fayetteville State University women's basketball program. A native of Shelby, North Carolina, Surratt joined the Broncos after competing at Cape Fear Community College, where she continued to develop her game and prepare for the next stage of her collegiate career.
Surratt attended Crest High School, where she built the foundation for her basketball journey before advancing to the junior college ranks. At Fayetteville State, she is pursuing a degree in Business Administration while contributing to one of the premier women's basketball programs in the CIAA.
Her decision to become a Bronco was rooted in the belief and opportunity Fayetteville State provided.
"I chose FSU because FSU chose me."
She values the program's championship tradition and appreciates the confidence the coaching staff showed in giving her the opportunity to continue her collegiate career.
"They win championships and took a chance on me."
Following graduation, Surratt hopes to extend her basketball career by playing professionally overseas. She credits her family as her greatest athletic influence, drawing motivation and support from those closest to her throughout her journey.
Away from the court, Surratt enjoys journalism and storytelling, using writing as a creative outlet beyond basketball. Her combination of perseverance, ambition, and team-first mentality makes her a valuable member of the Broncos program as she continues to grow both personally and athletically.
