Junior forward Laila Lewis brings championship experience, rebounding prowess, and a strong work ethic to the Fayetteville State University women's basketball program. A native of Rolesville, North Carolina, Lewis joined the Broncos after beginning her collegiate career at North Carolina Central University.
During an outstanding high school career at Rolesville High School, Lewis established herself as one of the state's premier rebounders. She recorded more than 600 career rebounds, earned recognition among MaxPreps' Top 10 Rebounders in North Carolina, and finished her career as the school's all-time rebounding leader. Lewis also collected three All-Conference selections, two All-Conference Tournament Team honors, and helped lead her team to a state championship.
Lewis chose Fayetteville State because of the welcoming atmosphere, strong sense of community, and supportive culture within the women's basketball program. From her first visit, she felt the university was the right place to continue her academic and athletic journey.
As a Birth-Kindergarten Education major, Lewis is preparing for a future career working with young children and hopes to one day become a daycare director. She values the opportunities Fayetteville State provides for personal growth, noting that being a member of the women's basketball program has helped her develop discipline, confidence, and lasting relationships.
Away from basketball, Lewis enjoys playing video games, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She credits her parents, Sherine Lewis and Don Lewis, as her greatest influences, recognizing their hard work and sacrifices as the foundation for her success.
With her experience, toughness, and dedication to improvement, Lewis adds valuable depth and leadership to the Broncos' frontcourt as Fayetteville State continues its pursuit of conference championships.
