Coach King-Coleman stepped in as the Broncos 13th head coach (in 2016-17) since the women’s program was started in 1940 and 11th since joining the CIAA in 1974.

Fayetteville State has been a .500 or better program over the past five seasons and have won the CIAA Southern Division title four times (2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2022-23) and have participated in two championship games, winning the 2019-20 title.

Prior to taking the helm of the Lady Broncos basketball program, King-Coleman spent six seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at Kentucky State University. She accumulated a record of 99-67, the most coaching wins in KSU women’s basketball history with a winning percentage of .596

King-Coleman reached a single-season career best record of 24-5 in her last season at Kentucky State (2015-16). She led the Thorobrettes to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) tournament championship game and an appearance in the NCAA Division II South Regional. KSU had a record of 22-6 in 2014-15 under the tutelage of King-Coleman. The first back to back 20-plus win season at Kentucky State since 1995-97.

King-Coleman has remained professionally involved on both the conference and regional levels. She served as the WBCA Division II Conference Captain for the SIAC as well as a member of the NCAA Division II Regional Ranking Committee.

Before assuming the leadership role at KSU, King-Coleman spent six seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at St. Paul’s College. She was also the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and Assistant Athletic Director (2007-2010). In 2008, King-Coleman coached the first CIAA Player of the Year in SPC history.

King-Coleman began her head coaching career as the interim head women’s basketball coach at Gardner-Webb University at the start of the 2003-04 season. In 2002-03, she held the position of associate head women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at GWU.

She maintains membership in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). King-Coleman was inducted into the Class of 2010 10th Region Hall of Fame for the State of Kentucky Girls High School Basketball. 

King-Coleman played collegiate women’s basketball at UNC-Greensboro from 1993-1997, where she earned Big South All-Rookie honors. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English (1998).
