Sophomore middle blocker Courtlynn Edwards brings leadership, determination, and championship experience to the Fayetteville State University women's volleyball program. A native of Severna Park, Maryland, Edwards has quickly become a valuable member of the Broncos, combining her competitive drive on the court with a strong commitment to academic success.
Prior to arriving at Fayetteville State, Edwards enjoyed a standout career at Severna Park High School, where she earned First Team All-County honors and served as a varsity team captain. Her leadership abilities extended beyond athletics, as she also served as President of the Black Student Union, demonstrating her commitment to serving and inspiring others.
Edwards chose Fayetteville State because of its nationally recognized Forensic Science program and the welcoming atmosphere she experienced throughout the university community.

Since arriving on campus, she has embraced the family-oriented environment that makes Fayetteville State special.

One of the most memorable moments of her athletic career came during Fayetteville State's CIAA Championship season, an achievement that reinforced the value of teamwork, perseverance, and commitment to a common goal. She also treasures the experiences of traveling with teammates for away competitions, creating memories and bonds that extend beyond volleyball.
Before competition, Edwards mentally prepares through prayer and visualization, taking time to talk with God and picture herself succeeding on the court. She also draws motivation from music and the energy of her teammates, which helps her compete with confidence and enthusiasm.
Edwards credits her mother, Stacey Edwards, as the biggest influence in her athletic journey. Through her mother's guidance, support, and encouragement, she learned valuable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and overcoming adversity.
One of the greatest challenges Edwards has faced as an athlete has been learning how to continue giving her best effort even on difficult days.
"Still giving 100 percent when I don't have 100 percent in me."
That mindset has helped shape her into a tougher competitor and a more mature individual.
Away from volleyball, Edwards enjoys drawing and expressing her creativity through art. She is pursuing a degree in Forensic Science and plans to become a Forensic Toxicologist, with aspirations of eventually working for a government agency. Her passion for science and investigation fuels her drive to excel both in the classroom and in competition.
Committed to serving others, Edwards has participated in community outreach efforts that include distributing food to people experiencing homelessness and packing backpacks with school supplies and toys for underserved children. She believes in giving back and making a positive impact wherever she can.
As she continues her journey at Fayetteville State, Edwards remains focused on helping the Broncos compete for championships while preparing for a successful career in forensic science.
