Isiah Gill is a rising star in collegiate basketball coaching, known for his transformative leadership, elite player development, and strategic acumen. A native of Franklin County, Virginia, Gill joins the Fayetteville State basketball staff under the Devin Hoehn's era. He previously served as Hoehn's Associate Head Coach at Bluefield State University, where Gill helped play a pivotal role in rewriting the program’s history books.
Gill began his coaching career at Bluefield State in 2019 as an Assistant Coach and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2024. Under his guidance, the program achieved its first winning NCAA season in over three decades, its first 19-win season in 40 years, and its first-ever CIAA Tournament victory. His teams have consistently ranked among the top in the nation in steals, turnovers forced, scoring offense, and rebounding.
A master recruiter and player developer, Gill has coached multiple All-Americans, two 1,000-point scorers, and three athletes who advanced to Division I programs. He was instrumental in the development of Jordan Hinds, who earned CIAA Player of the Year, HBCU D2 Player of the Year, and Atlantic Region Player of the Year honors. His innovative “NO MIDDLE/GAPS” defensive system has become a hallmark of his coaching identity.
In addition to his coaching duties, Gill has served as the Game Day Operations Director at Bluefield State since 2022, overseeing logistics for multiple sports and contributing to hiring committees within the athletic department.
Gill’s journey began on the court as a standout player. He was a 1,000-point scorer and Region X Honorable Mention honoree, known for his sharpshooting ability—finishing his career shooting 45% from beyond the arc.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bluefield University (2018) and an Associate of Arts from Davidson-Davie Community College (2016), where he also led his team to a district championship and Final Four appearance.
