Entering his second season at Fayetteville State University, Devin Hoehn has quickly established the Broncos as one of the premier programs in the CIAA and NCAA Division II basketball. A rising star in the coaching profession, Hoehn brings a proven track record of program building, player development, and championship-level success.

In his first season at Fayetteville State in 2025-26, Hoehn guided the Broncos to a 23-7 overall record, a CIAA Southern Division Championship, and one of the most successful campaigns in recent program history. The Broncos finished 14-2 in conference play and posted a perfect 10-0 record against Southern Division opponents while recording a 17-game winning streak during the season. His .767 winning percentage ranked among the best first-year seasons by a head coach in program history. Based on the records provided by the NCAA coaching summary and CIAA standings.

In addition to the team's success, Hoehn's first season in Fayetteville produced some of the most decorated individual performances in the CIAA. Under his leadership, Larry Howell was named CIAA Player of the Year, becoming one of the conference's premier players, while Ezekiel Cannedy earned CIAA Sixth Man of the Year honors. The Broncos also placed multiple student-athletes on the All-CIAA teams, highlighting the program's growth and competitive excellence under Hoehn's direction.

Hoehn has established a reputation for developing elite talent throughout his coaching career. At Bluefield State University, he mentored Jordan Hines, who earned CIAA Player of the Year, HBCU Division II Player of the Year, and Atlantic Region Player of the Year honors before beginning his professional career overseas. At Fayetteville State University, he continued that tradition by guiding Larry Howell to CIAA Player of the Year recognition and helping position Broncos student-athletes for opportunities beyond collegiate basketball.

Across his head coaching career, Hoehn's players have earned conference major awards, all-conference selections, all-tournament honors, regional recognition, and professional playing opportunities. His commitment to player development extends beyond the court, emphasizing leadership, academic success, and preparation for professional careers.

Hoehn arrived in Fayetteville after serving four seasons as head coach at Bluefield State University. During his tenure, he transformed the Big Blues into a conference contender and capped his time there with a breakthrough 19-12 campaign in 2024-25. Under his leadership, Bluefield State advanced to the CIAA Championship Game and finished second in the CIAA Northern Division after being projected near the bottom of the preseason standings.

Throughout his four seasons at Bluefield State, Hoehn compiled a 48-62 record while rebuilding the program during its transition as an NCAA Division II member. His teams consistently improved, increasing their win totals from eight victories in his first season to 19 wins in his final year. He also coached one of the most decorated players in CIAA history in Jordan Hines, who earned CIAA Player of the Year, HBCU Division II Player of the Year, and Atlantic Region Player of the Year honors.

Prior to becoming a head coach, Hoehn spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Nova Southeastern University from 2017-21. Working under his former college coach, Jim Crutchfield, he helped transform the Sharks into a national powerhouse. During his tenure, Nova Southeastern compiled a 69-20 record, won an NCAA South Regional Championship, captured a Sunshine State Conference regular-season title, advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, and reached No. 1 in the national rankings.

Hoehn is widely recognized for his fast-paced, high-energy style of play. His coaching philosophy emphasizes basketball IQ, decision-making, mental and physical toughness, and relentless defensive pressure. Offensively, his teams thrive in an up-tempo system that creates scoring opportunities through pace, spacing, and trust, while defensively they pressure opponents from baseline to baseline.

A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Hoehn earned his bachelor's degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching from West Liberty University. As a four-year starting guard for the Hilltoppers, he helped lead the program to three NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearances, two Final Four appearances, and two national championship game appearances. During his senior season, he averaged 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while earning First Team All-Conference honors.

Entering the 2026-27 season, Hoehn owns a 71-69 career head coaching record and a 23-7 mark at Fayetteville State University. In five seasons as a head coach, he has led programs to conference championship contention, developed multiple conference award winners, coached a CIAA Player of the Year at two different institutions, and helped student-athletes advance to professional basketball opportunities. His commitment to developing championship-caliber teams and well-rounded student-athletes continues to position Broncos basketball among the top programs in the CIAA and NCAA Division II ranks.Â
