Desmond Freeman joined the Fayetteville State men’s basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2025–26 season, bringing a strong foundation in leadership, player development, and academic excellence.
A former collegiate standout, Freeman played three seasons at Bluefield State College and two at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He served as team captain at both institutions and earned Academic All-American honors multiple times. At Bloomsburg, he led the team in free throw percentage and three-pointers made, while also receiving CSC All-District recognition.
Freeman holds a Master of Business Administration from Bloomsburg University (2024), graduating with a 3.95 GPA. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Sports Management and a minor in Entrepreneurship from Bluefield State (2022), where he posted the highest GPA in the School of Business.

Freeman’s coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach at Southeast Guilford High School (2024–25) and head coach for Basketpoint USA AAU in Greensboro, NC. He has also worked as a personal trainer and skill development coach since 2020.
In addition to his coaching and playing career, Freeman interned with the Bluefield State Athletic Department, supporting event management, data organization, and scheduling. He also served on hiring committees and represented the student body in conference meetings.
Freeman is known for his attention to detail, commitment to team success, and passion for mentoring student-athletes both on and off the court.
