Fayetteville State University Athletics

Matthew Leach is a seasoned linebacker for the Broncos, bringing leadership and experience to the defensive unit. A native of Raeford, North Carolina, Leach graduated from Hoke County High School in 2022, where he earned Defensive Player of the Year, was a 2x All-Conference linebacker, and also recognized as an All-Conference punter. He also competed in track, showcasing his athletic versatility.

Before transferring to Fayetteville State University, Leach was a three-year starter at Barton College, where he developed into a reliable and impactful player. Now a senior majoring in Sports Fitness and Management, he plans to pursue a career in coaching and teaching after graduation.

Off the field, Matthew enjoys building Legos, a hobby that reflects his creativity and attention to detail. He credits his father as the most influential person in his life, admiring his quiet strength and dedication to family. Leach chose FSU for the better opportunity it presented both academically and athletically.
