Maliq Staten, a junior at Fayetteville State University, stands 6’1" and weighs 230 pounds. Born on September 17, 2001, in Philadelphia, PA, he graduated from North Penn High School in 2021, where he also played baseball. Maliq transferred from Lincoln University. He has made the Dean’s List and is part of the Roots mentor program. His career goals include handling his responsibilities as a man, marrying his girlfriend Ja’Taiya Glover, starting a family, taking care of his parents, continuing football, and building generational wealth. Maliq’s hidden talent is dancing, and he enjoys swimming and fishing in his free time. He considers his mother, Kalshia Owens, a Penn State University alumna, as the most influential person in his life due to her strong work ethic. His favorite sports memory is scoring an 89-yard touchdown during a five-game COVID season. Maliq chose FSU because “FSU chose me.”
