Zach Kellum returns to Fayetteville State University as the Tight Ends Coach, bringing expanded collegiate coaching experience, offensive leadership background, and firsthand knowledge of the Broncos program. A former Fayetteville State student-athlete, Kellum combines energy, technical expertise, and a player-first approach to position development.

Kellum rejoins Fayetteville State after serving on the coaching staff at Winston-Salem State University, where he rapidly assumed increasing responsibilities within the Rams’ football program. During his tenure at WSSU, he worked as Wide Receivers Coach, Passing Game Coordinator, and Assistant Special Teams Coordinator, playing a key role in offensive planning, route design, and skill development. His work contributed to one of the conference’s most productive passing units, with the Rams ranking second in the conference in receiving yards and touchdowns during the 2025 season.

In addition to his on-field coaching responsibilities, Kellum also served in player development and operational roles while balancing educational leadership as an eighth-grade social studies teacher in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, further strengthening his communication, mentorship, and organizational skills.

A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Kellum was a former college tight end at both North Carolina Central University and Fayetteville State. After spending three seasons with the Eagles at the Division I level, he transferred to Fayetteville State as a graduate student and quickly emerged as one of the top tight ends in the CIAA. In his final collegiate season, Kellum led all conference tight ends in receptions and receiving yards, while adding a touchdown, showcasing his versatility as both a receiver and blocker.

Kellum earned his undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and completed graduate coursework toward an MBA. His background also includes experience in strength and conditioning, giving him a comprehensive understanding of athletic development, durability, and performance optimization.

As Tight Ends Coach at Fayetteville State, Kellum oversees all aspects of tight end development, including blocking technique, route execution, versatility within multiple offensive packages, and academic support. His return provides the Broncos with continuity, passion, and a high-energy coach committed to developing disciplined, physical, and productive players as Fayetteville State prepares for the 2026 season.
