Montaze McRae embarks on his first season with the Fayetteville State football program. He serves as an assistant coach responsible for developing the offensive line.

Prior to joining the staff at FSU, McRae gained coaching experience on the high school level at Southern Durham High. He served as the offensive line coach for seven seasons (2009-15). McRae coached and developed over 15 all-conference lineman.

With McRae on the coaching staff, Southern Durham won three Big 8 Conference Championships (2013-15), reached the 3-AA State Championship game (2015), and won the 3-AA State Championship in 2015.

McRae earned a Bachelor of Agriculture Education from North Carolina A&T State University in 2007. He attended NCAT on a full scholarship and complete the coursework for his degree in three years. McRae was a three-year letter winner as an Aggie and played every position on the offensive line.

McRae pursued a professional career in football and spent time with the Concord Speed and Fayetteville Guard of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). Following his playing career, McRae served in education as a teacher assistant and behavior specialist at Southern Durham High.

McRae is a native of Raeford, NC and graduate of Hoke County High (2004). He earned all-conference honors in his junior and senior seasons. In 2004, McRae was selected to the All Cape Fear Region Football Team and named an All Cape Fear Region Top 10 college prospect.

McRae continues to seek professional development opportunities and enhance his network. He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.

He is resides with his wife Nicole and their twin sons Matthew and Trenten.
