Lawrence Kershaw embarks on his third season as the head football coach at Fayetteville State University. During his initial campaign at FSU, Kershaw led the Broncos to a 6-4 overall mark and a 5-2 record in the CIAA. He followed with a 5-5 overall and 5-2 CIAA mark in 2014. Fayetteville State has been in contention for CIAA Championship game going into the season finale the last two seasons. Kershaw was officially introduced as the 15th head coach in program history on Jan. 22, 2013. Since his arrival at FSU, Kershaw has developed two All-Americans (Michael Johnson and Marcus Reed) and received 10 All-CIAA selections. Most recently, Reed has signed to be an offensive lineman with the Kansas City Chiefs for the upcoming 2015 NFL season. Kershaw has eight years of experience as an offensive coordinator and a total of 19 on the collegiate level. He took over the Bronco program after serving as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL for five years. FAMU finished as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Champions in 2010 with a 7-1 record. Under his schemes in 2012, the Rattlers finished first in the MEAC in Passing Efficiency (141.9), Touchdown Passes (18) and Completion Percentage (70.4). FAMU was ranked second in the conference in Pass Offense (236.2 per game) and third in Total Offense (359.0 per game). The offense has ranked in the top three of numerous offensive categories through his five years. In 2007, Kershaw was the offensive line coach at Hampton University. The offense finished first in the MEAC in Scoring, Passing and Red Zone Offense. In 2006, he served as the offensive line coach and coordinator of the strength and conditioning program at Truman State University. After the brief stint away, he returned to his alma-mater in 2000 as the offensive line coach and took over as the offensive coordinator a year later. The Trojans won two CIAA Championships (1995, 1996) and finished runner-up in 1997. Lawrence Kershaw expanded his experience outside the CIAA after he served as the Assistant Head Coach at Virginia Union University from 2004-05. A 1995 graduate of Virginia State University, Kershaw has abundant experiences in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. At the completion of playing career, he signed on as the offensive line coach for three seasons. Kershaw completed his Masters of Education Degree in 1997 at VSU and returned to his home state of New York in 1998 to volunteer at Fordham University.
