Matsilah "Matsi" Dunn is a sophomore member of the Fayetteville State University cheerleading program. A native of Waldorf, Maryland, Dunn graduated from Thomas Stone High School, where she excelled both academically and athletically as a student-athlete in cheerleading and track & field.
During her high school career, Dunn earned numerous academic and athletic honors, including Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, Student-Athlete Awards, and the prestigious G.O.A.T. Cougars Athletics Award. Her commitment to excellence in the classroom and in competition has continued to serve her well as a member of the Broncos cheerleading squad.
Dunn is majoring in Cyber Security and plans to build a career in the field as a penetration tester, combining her passion for technology and problem-solving with her professional ambitions. Her dedication to personal growth extends beyond academics and athletics, as she continually strives to challenge herself and develop new skills.
As an out-of-state student, Dunn was drawn to Fayetteville State because of its affordability, welcoming atmosphere, and strong sense of community. After visiting campus, she immediately felt at home and knew FSU was the right place for her. She especially values the opportunity to experience a different culture and traditions through the University's athletic programs and campus environment.
One of the biggest lessons Dunn has learned as an athlete is the importance of focusing on personal growth rather than comparing herself to others. She views overcoming self-comparison as one of her greatest athletic challenges and encourages younger athletes to put in work outside of scheduled practices, believing that extra effort is often the key to success.
Outside of cheerleading, Dunn enjoys roller skating and coloring, activities that allow her to relax and express her creativity. Known for her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to continuous improvement, Dunn continues to make an impact as a student-athlete while representing Fayetteville State with pride.
