Virginia Union Volleyball Tops Livingstone in Four Sets


FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Virginia Union powered past Livingstone College in four sets (25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21) on Friday at Felton J. Capel Arena, improving to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in CIAA play.

Madison Hill led the Panthers with 15 points, tallying 11 kills and two blocks while hitting .280. Teammates Aireanna Johnson and Alana Simmons each contributed 14 points, combining for 28 kills and strong defensive efforts. Setter Ashlee Franklin orchestrated the offense with 41 assists and added eight digs.

Virginia Union posted a .178 hitting percentage and out-blocked Livingstone 6-5. The Panthers dominated the first set with a .282 attack clip and maintained control despite a third-set slip.

Livingstone (5-6, 2-1 CIAA) was paced by Penelope Johnson’s 13 points and Mya Dalpiaz’s 10 kills. The Blue Bears struggled offensively, hitting just .119 overall and .000 in the second set.

The match featured 14 tie scores and nine lead changes, with Virginia Union closing strong in the fourth to seal the win.
